This BlueBroward.org web community launched just after Kerry's loss in 2004 and has been slowly building since then. With Obama's victory, we can move forward with more confidence that Democrats know how to organize and win. But there is still a need for us to organize ourselves better at the state and local level. We need to be ready for the "Republican Revolution" that will be coming in 2008 so we can stop it in its tracks. And while in 2008 we succeeded in turning Florida "blue" on the electoral college map, the state legislature that dominates many key issues such as education remains solidly Republican. We're going to have to do something about that, too.

This website serves to register a growing list of volunteers and keep them informed about Democratic activities. Please sign up now.

The form asks for contact information as well as information about your professional and campaign skills, and the issues that are most important to you. Although you have the option of making a portion of that information public on the members page, you can also choose to keep it private and share it only with the candidates or causes of your choice.

The BlueBroward Calendar of community events goes out by email every Sunday, supplimented by occasional additional bulletins (more frequent around election time), but I do try not to overload your inbox. Your membership also allows you to post your own events or post them for a candidate you support.

Featured Event: Picnic for Grassroots Democratic Volunteers

Saturday November 22nd

Join us for a volunteer appreciation picnic. It's pot luck, so we'll really be showing our appreciation for each other, and patting ourselves and each other for a job well done helping elect Barack Obama our new President.

Please bring a pot luck dish and a contribution of $5 per voting age adult (kids welcome, no charge). The money will cover the picnic pavilion rental and any miscellaneous expenses. We'll have hot dogs, hamburgers, and sodas. Bring chairs or a picnic blanket in case we run out of space in the pavilion.

Please RSVP via Meetup.com. You can use the "comment" field to indicate what you'll be bringing for the pot luck so others won't bring the same thing.

Make sure you come to the right location: We'll be at Pavilion #11 at Plantation Heritage Park - actually in the "Duck Pond" area outside the main park (see area map). Because it's outside the main gate, attendees won't have to pay the park admission fee. It's across the street from the main park on Peter's Road, between University Drive and State Road 7.

Use this Google Map for driving directions. Questions? Contact David F. Carr at david@bluebroward.org or 954-757-5827
