Broward Party Chair Mitch Caesar Joined By New Leaders

Congratulations to the new leadership team for the Broward Democratic Party. After a spirited contest for the loyalties of precinct committee representatives, Chairman Mitch Caesar won reelection by more than a 100-vote margin. At the same time, those who have been arguing that the party needs to be better aligned with volunteer organizers and make better use of digital campaign tools achieved significant representation on the management team.

My hope is that this will be a true team, allowing Mitch to do the things he does best while taking advantage of the strengths others bring to the table. If the result is more effective organizing and GOTV for 2014, we all will have won.

  1. County Chair & National Committeeman Mitch Ceasar is aware of the problems at the Democratic Club of Wynmoor. I wish he got more involved in the past three years.
He swore in the elected officer in 2011 with his own statement that the elected officials of the club had to follow the Club’s By-Laws. Which included appointing a chairperson to the Campaign Committee. That appointment to the most important position of a Chairperson to the Campaign Committee never took place in 2011, 2012 and 2013. The person, Fred that the past President and the present President stated they have appointed, never really took place. I talked to Fred last month for about 20 minutes. He told me that no one ever approached him for that position. As a Board member in 2011 I made a motion to spend $8,000.00 in 2012 to get the vote out AND how to spend that money. The vote was 10 -1. The Club only spent about $400.00 in 2012. Only 5% (Five%)of the APPROVED amount!!!! The elected officers said in 2012 they never had official ideas how to spend the club’s money. To this day they STILL do not have any written ideas. There are about 325 current declared Club members in 2013; according to the current Chairperson of the membership Committee. The club has only 79 paid members as of December 2, 2013 for the 2014 season. Though two other Board members offered an excellent motion in 2011 to increase the Club’s membership numbers. That unanimous motion was never put into place in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
