Good afternoon, friends!
So Senate Republicans work behind closed doors for weeks and then come out with proposed health care legislation that would (as Organizing for Action said) cause 22 million people to lose their coverage, raise costs, decimate Medicaid, defund Planned Parenthood, weaken protections for people with pre-existing conditions, and give huge tax cuts to the rich. Don’t wait another minute! Call Ansley Rhyne (202-224-3041) or Ted Sacasa (202-224-3041) in Marco Rubio’s Office to tell Rubio to vote No!
And tomorrow, Wednesday, join us at 5 PM at the Broward County Governmental Center (The Broward County Commission), 115 S. Andrews Avenue, for the Health Care Day of Action, sponsored by SEIU – Florida and Women’s March Florida – Broward. The targets of the action will be Senator Rubio and the Republican House members who supported the House bill.
Also tomorrow, we will be back at the West Regional Courthouse from 10 AM to 2 PM, to register voters and collect rights restoration petitions. Please let me know if you can join us from 10 AM to 12 or from 12 to 2.
On Saturday, July 1st, John Ziegler’s team will be back at the West Regional Library in Plantation from 10 AM to 6 PM to register voters and collect rights restoration petitions. If you’d like to help at the Library in one of the 2-hour shifts, please contact John at 954-232-3918 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
As for the Rights Restoration Campaign, the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition will be having a “Convening” at the Rosen Center in Orlando from July 20th to July 22nd. The conference will address, encourage, and direct the rising enthusiasm to place the Rights Restoration Amendment on the 2018 Ballot. All participants will leave with tangible resources to help them achieve their volunteer goals, including messaging, phone banking, canvassing, and petition collection tool-kits. There will also be an Awards Ceremony on the evening of July 21st, hosted by award-winning actress Vivica A. Fox. For more information about this important event, please click of the following link:
