What Happened Yesterday in Sarasota Can Happen All Over the Place in November!

    Hello, Democrats!

Did you see what happened in a sleepy Trump-friendly Gulf Coast community yesterday?  Florida’s House District 72 in Sarasota is a district where Republicans outnumber Democrats by more than 10,000 registered voters, and a district where Trump beat Hillary by nearly 5 points!  In yesterday’s special election, Democrat Margaret Good trounced Republican James Buchanan by a margin of 52 to 45!  This would be one thing if the election had taken place in a district where Democrats outnumbered Republicans.  It is quite something else (something very special!) for the Democrat to win in that district!  Maybe the coming Blue Wave is for real!

Today was also a great day at the West Regional Courthouse.  Four volunteers, Emily Park, Andrew Dolberg, Jane Schwartz, and newcomer Robin Adell, came out to help, so we were able to cover the Library and the Bus Stop, as well as the Courthouse.  They did an amazing job, helping to collect 12 voter registration forms and 29 requests to vote-by-mail!

On Saturday, February 17th, John Ziegler’s team will be back at the West Regional Library in Plantation from 10 AM to 6 PM to register voters.  He needs volunteers for 2-hour shifts.  If you’d like to help with voter registration at the Library on Saturday, please contact John at 954-232-3918 or johnjoeziegler@aol.com.

And I will be back at the West Regional Courthouse and Library (Pine Island & Broward) on Wednesday, February 21st, from 10 AM to 2 PM, registering voters and collecting requests to vote-by-mail.  How about joining me out there?

On Friday, February 23rd, there will be a special forum sponsored by various Democratic Clubs, hosting Tallahassee Mayor and Gubernatorial Candidate Andrew Gillum.  The location is the Jim Ward Community Center, 301 NW 46 Avenue in Plantation, and doors will open at 5:30 PM.  Refreshments will be served.

The Broward Democratic Party’s Obama Roosevelt Legacy Dinner will be at the Hyatt Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, March 3rd starting at 6 PM.  For more information and tickets, go to:  www.browarddemocrats.org/ORL2018  Save the date!

And finally, save the date Saturday, May 5th for the Plantation Democratic Club’s annual celebration and open bar at Volunteer Park’s Banquet Room, this year honoring the service of our own Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel!  I will be making my world famous punch once again!
