Time to Get Your Tickets for May 5th and Time to Help With Voter Registration

    Good evening, everybody!

It’s time to buy your tickets for the Plantation Democratic Club’s annual celebration and open bar at 5:30 on Saturday, May 5th, at Volunteer Park’s Banquet Room, this year honoring the service of our own Broward County Sheriff, Scott Israel!  From the day he was elected as Broward county Sheriff, Scott Israel has served with honor, integrity, and distinction.  He immediately instituted an innovative common-sense program to keep youngsters out if the prison pipeline, saying “Our success will be measured by the number of kids we keep out of jail, not the number we put in jail.”  He also established the wearing of body cameras for Broward County deputies.  He has always promoted common-sense gun safety proposals, opposing open-carry legislation and the idea of allowing concealed weapons on campuses.  Check out the mouth-watering menu for this event and the fact that I will once again serve as bartender!  Print out the attached flyer or click here for more information.  Let’s show our support for the Sheriff and for the Plantation Democratic Club!

A recent Indivisible posting pointed out the following:  (1) One in five eligible voters in the U.S. isn’t registered to vote; (2) 40% of eligible voters sat out the 2016 election; and (3) 435 House seats and 35 Senate seats are up for grabs in November (not to mention governors, state representatives, judges, school boards, city councils, and constitutional amendments) all across the country.  If you would like to help change the direction in our nation, you have to do more than just sit back and complain.  You’ve got to help register voters, you’ve got to sign voters up to vote-by-mail, and you’ve got to knock on doors and talk to your neighbors about getting out and voting in August and November!

    Here’s how you can help:

John Ziegler’s team will be back at the West Regional Library in Plantation tomorrow from 10 AM to 6 PM and next Saturday, April 28th.  He needs volunteers for 2-hour shifts.  If you’d like to help with voter registration at the Library on Saturday, please contact John at 954-232-3918 or johnjoeziegler@aol.com.

I will be back at the West Regional Courthouse (Pine Island & Broward) on Wednesday, April 18th, from 10 AM to 2 PM to register voters and sign people up to vote by mail.  Please let me know whether you can join me on Wednesday.
