Have You Seen the New York Times Article About the ACLU?

    Good afternoon, everybody!

Monday, July 30th is the last day to register to vote in the August 28th Primary.  The absentee ballots should start arriving at about the same time.  This is the perfect week to make sure that you are registered to vote and that you have signed up to get a ballot by mail.  Check at www.browardsoe.org to make sure.

We can still register voters this week for the August 28th Primary.  I will be at the West Regional Courthouse again tomorrow from 10 AM to 2 PM and can use your help.  We especially need some volunteers between 12 Noon and 2 PM.  Please let me know if you can volunteer tomorrow.

And on Saturday, July 28th, John Ziegler’s team will be back at the West Regional Library in Plantation from 10 AM until 6 PM.  He still needs volunteers for the 12-2 PM, 2 -4 PM, and 4 – 6 PM shifts.  If you’d like to help with voter registration at the Library, please contact John at 954-232-3918 or johnjoeziegler@aol.com.

In addition to registering voters for the mid-term elections, we must do much more to make sure that our neighbors come out at vote.  Here are some ways you can help make that happen:

This Saturday and Sunday, July 28th and 29th, the Broward Democratic Party is sponsoring a Weekend of Action.  Come join your fellow Democrats as we canvass and phone bank to help turn Florida Blue!  Just come to the Broward Democratic Party Office at 8320 W Sunrise Blvd., Suite 203, in Plantation.  The shifts on Saturday and Sunday for both canvassing and phone-banking will be from 1 to 6 PM.  To sign up for canvassing, RSVP here: https://events.mobilizeamerica.io/browardcountydems/event/4795/ To sign up for phone-banking, RSVP here: https://events.mobilizeamerica.io/browardcountydems/event/4792/

And of course, I will be back at the West Regional Courthouse on Monday and Wednesday, July 30th and August 1st, from 10 AM to 2 PM.  Let me know if you can join me.

On Tuesday, August 7th, from 6 to 9 PM, the City of Sunrise is hosting its National Night Out Against Crime at the Sunrise Police Complex at 10440 W. Oakland Park Blvd. in Sunrise.  Volunteers are needed to help register voters and update information on the voting records.  If you can help, please contact Ellen Moltz at 954-548-9411 or e.moltz@yahoo.com.

And finally, on Sunday, August 19th, from 2 to 4 PM, there will be a “Stronger Together” Rally to get out the vote at the Sunrise Civic Center Theater at 10610 W. Oakland Park Blvd. in Sunrise.   The incredible Barbara Effman is coordinating this event which is being sponsored by a dozen different Democratic clubs.  Many of the candidates who will be on the November Ballot are planning to attend.  So save the date!
