To say that what happened today in Florida’s Primary Election was a monumental upset is frankly an understatement. Mayor Andrew Gillum’s victory in the gubernatorial race was simply amazing, and just goes to show that sometimes it doesn’t matter that you don’t have money, name recognition, or the backing of the Democratic establishment. The people of Florida recognized that Andrew Gillum is the real deal, truly special, and that he will be an exceptional Governor for the Sunshine State. And Broward County had a lot to do with helping Gillum across the finish line.
But now we have to double down in our efforts to make sure that on November 6th, Andrew Gillum is elected Governor, Bill Nelson is re-elected Senator in Florida, and Amendment 4 passes to restore the right to vote to the 1.5 million Floridians with felony convictions. We have to contribute to their campaigns, we have to register as many voters as possible, and we have to knock on more doors than ever before. If you haven’t gotten involved yet, NOW IS THE TIME!
At the West Regional Courthouse yesterday, Joseph Russel and Marsha Eisenberg helped to register nine voters (7 of them Democrats!), collect 12 vote-by-mail requests and 35 universal background check demands. We will be back the Courthouse tomorrow (Wednesday) from 10 AM to 2 PM. Join me and we can celebrate together!
Here’s how else you can help:

On Wednesday, September 5th, I will be back at the West Regional Courthouse (Pine Island & Broward) from 10 AM to 2 PM to register voters and sign people up to vote by mail. Please let me know if you can join me.
And on Tuesday, September 11th, the Plantation Democratic Club will have its monthly meeting at 7 PM at the Jim Ward Community Center 301 NW 46 Avenue in Plantation.
