Our Guest speaker will be our Mayor, Rex Hardin.
Rex Hardin was first elected as City Commissioner in 1998 for a two-year term. He was once again elected in 2007 and has served continuously since his return to office.
Pompano Beach City Commissioner Rex Hardin has been a part of our community since first arriving in Pompano Beach in 1963. Now, together with his wife Amy, they are raising the next generation of Pompano residents, their twin sons Kolby and Bryce, born in 2005.
Mr. Hardin has always been deeply involved in serving his community. Rex is a member of the Rotary Club of Pompano Beach and has served on the Board of Directors and as President. Some of the projects that he was part of with the Rotary Club were helping with the cleanup after Hurricane Andrew struck Miami-Dade, building playgrounds for the Broward Children’s Center and raising funds for scholarships for local high school students. Additionally, Rex and his family are members of St. Martin In The Fields Episcopal church.
Commissioner Hardin is the president of the Dynamos of Pompano Beach which is an organization that holds a weekly recreational program for developmentally disabled kids and adults. He is also a member of the Broward 100 Club which helps support the families of fallen police officers and firefighters. Additionally, Hardin served as president of the Sample McDougald House Preservation Society when the house was moved from North Dixie Highway to its current location on N.E. 10th Street.
Professionally, Rex owns Cypress Printing Center, a printing business located in Pompano Beach which he has owned and operated since 1984.
