The Palm Aire Cypress Bend Democratic Club meeting has been changed to the following Monday, January 8 due to New Years Day. The meeting will also begin at 6:30 for a short meeting then the film at 7pm.
We are going to co-sponsor a movie With the ACLU about voting security.
“I VOTED”? It is Election Day. We mark our ballots and away they disappear for counting – tallied by reliable systems. Or so we hope. Few citizens realize that today’s elections offer scant guarantee that votes are recorded as intended. While democracy does not begin with elections, it can end when we fail to protect them. ‘I Voted?’ is a feature length, non-partisan documentary which examines the capture and counting of ballots in our elections. It asks the question, ‘What are the specific assurances of accuracy and security in American voting?’ The answers are both surprising and disturbing.
Please join us for this very informative documentary.
11:30 am Self Introductions / Networking
12:00 pm noon Lunch
The Democratic Professionals Network (DPN) will be hosting its January lunch event on Wednesday, January 10th at 11:30am at Timpano on Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale. Jeremy Ring, Democratic Candidate for Florida’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), will be speaking at the event.
Jeremy is a tech pioneer and committed public servant with a sterling record of accomplishments in business and in the Florida Senate. He is running to serve as Florida’s next CFO to expand and modernize our State’s economy, grow high-paying jobs, protect Florida’s retirement system and ensure that insurance rates remain stable for working families. We are particularly excited about Jeremy speaking to the group because of his business background, which makes him a perfect fit for DPN.
If you’re interested in attending the event and hearing Jeremy Ring’s pitch for why he should be the next CFO, you can RSVP at www.browarddemocrats.org/dpn. Feel free to contact me should you have any questions.
Look forward to seeing you there!
