I’m running for Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services because Florida’s economy depends upon a thriving environment, and we need a knowledgeable steward to guide our prosperity. Every major industry sector in Florida is based on our sustainable environment. Consider:
- Florida agriculture is a $120 billion industry, including oranges, grapefruits, strawberries, tomatoes, sugarcane, and cotton, among other crops, and supports more than 1.5 million jobs
- Travel and tourism in Florida injects $89 billion into our economy, and supports 1.2 million jobs
- As the gateway to Latin America, Florida’s international trade sector pumps $68 billion into the economy, and employs 2.5 million workers
Conserving and protecting our environment to ensure Florida’s strong economy takes more than lip service — it takes commitment and dedication to preserving our natural resources while promoting vibrancy and growth. That’s where I stand, and I hope you’ll join me.
